Do
it Yourself Marketing - Press Releases
By Jill
Hart
Many home business owners have asked me,
“What is a Press Release and why should I use one?”
I was asking these same questions a few years ago. Press
Releases are a great low cost/free way to introduce your
business, or other newsworthy items regarding your business,
to the press and the general public.
Many reporters and other news sources people
read Press Releases and if you get them to the right person,
they just may end up as news on other websites or even print
newspapers, etc.
It is quite simple to create a good Press
Release. Follow these simple steps and you’ll be on
your way to great marketing exposure:
1. Find an outline, such as the one available
at HERE
2. Decide what your Press Release will cover
(i.e. introducing your business, announcing a contest or
event)
3. Write the Press Release. Make sure to
include contact information, links to your website, and
a picture if possible.
The next step is to distribute the Press
Release that you have just prepared. Print the Press Release
and mail it to the editor of your local newspaper(s) and
radio stations. Next, go to Press Release distributors such
as PRWeb (http://www.prweb.com)
and post your Press Release. On PRWeb, you can choose to
post the Press Release for free or make a contribution,
which will get your Press Release more publicity.
I have gotten great results since I started
distributing Press Releases. I have ended up on many websites
that want to offer their visitors work from home information.
I have also received many emails from people who have seen
my Press Releases posted across the internet.
So, give it a chance! It just may be a great
low-cost tool for you to promote your business!
